What do I need to bring for my first appointment?

WHAT AGES DO YOU SEE?

We see patients from ages 0 to 21 years.

CAN I MEET MY PEDIATRICIAN BEFORE MY BABY IS BORN?

Yes,  in fact, we encourage expecting mothers and parents to visit our clinic and talk to our doctors.

How often should my child see the pediatrician?

The Benefits of Well-Child Visits:

  • Prevention. Your child gets scheduled immunizations to prevent illness. You also can ask your pediatrician about nutrition and safety in the home and at school.
  • Tracking growth and development. See how much your child has grown in the time since your last visit, and talk with your doctor about your child’s development. You can discuss your child’s milestones, social behaviors, and learning.

Raising concerns. Make a list of topics you want to talk about with your child’s pediatrician such as development, behavior, sleep, eating or getting along with other family members. Bring your top three to five questions or concerns with you to talk with your pediatrician at the start of the visit.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Office regulations require that patients and their family/caregiver be clothed (not shirtless) and wearing shoes (not barefoot).

SHOULD MY TEENAGER HAVE A PHYSICAL EACH YEAR?

Yes, we recommend that adolescents have a physical once a year. Routine exams give your teenager an opportunity to receive reliable answers to questions he/she may feel uncomfortable asking you or another adult. This exam also allows the provider to discuss with your teenager the normal occurrences of puberty and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

IF MY CHILD IS SICK, HOW SOON WILL THE DOCTOR SEE HIM/HER WHEN I CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT?

If your child is sick, we will see him/her on the same day you call.

WHAT ARE THE DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES PER AGE? WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT MY CHILD TO DO AT EACH AGE?’

All children are different and grow at different paces. some children mature in bursts, some at a steady pace. However, if you have questions about your child’s development, consult with your pediatrician.

WHEN DO I PAY MY CO-PAY?

We require all payments at the time of service, including co-pay, co-insurance, deductible, and any outstanding balance.

WHEN SHOULD I START TAKING MY CHILD TO THE DENTIST?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that a child go to the dentist by age 1 or within six months after the first tooth erupts. Primary teeth typically begin growing in around 6 months of age.

WHAT IS HPV VACCINE? IS IT IMPORTANT?

HPV vaccine is important because it protects against cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. HPV is a very common virus; nearly 80 million people—about one in four—are currently infected in the United States. About 14 million people, including teens, become infected with HPV each year.

WHEN CAN I TURN MY KID’S CAR SEAT FORWARD-FACING?

The AAP recommends:

  • Infants and toddlers should ride in a rear-facing car safety seat as long as possible until they reach the highest weight or height allowed by their seat. Most convertible seats have limits that will allow children to ride rear-facing for 2 years or more.
